Quarantine Free Travel - New Zealand
From the 8th of November 2021, Travellers from Vanuatu entering New Zealand no longer need to enter Managed Isolation and Quarantine.
You can travel one-way from Vanuatu to New Zealand without having to go into a managed isolation facility when you arrive. This is called quarantine-free travel. (QFT)
You are responsible for managing any travel disruption due to COVID-19. You should have a plan for what to do if your return to your country is delayed.
The Conditions of Quarantine-Free Travel are:
- Travellers must register with Foreign Affairs
- All non-NZ citizens (including transits) must be fully vaccinated unless exempt (e.g. for medical reasons or if under 17)
- All travellers (including transits) must complete the online contact tracing form, ‘Nau Mai Ra’ for New Zealand’s Ministry of Health
Immigration requirements
People who are eligible to enter New Zealand from Vanuatu are:
- Holders of a New Zealand resident visa
- Holders of a critical purpose visa
- New Zealand Citizens and residents
- Australian Citizens
- Vanuatu Government Officials (with a valid visa)
- Those travelling as part of the medical treatment scheme, and anyone else covered by existing border exceptions
Health requirements

- You have not had contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case within the past 14 days.
- There are no reasonable grounds, as determined by a suitably qualified health practitioner, to suspect you may have COVID-19. This may include:

- Waiting for a COVID-19 test result

- Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) workers are currently required to have at least 1 dose, and will be required to be fully vaccinated from 1 January 2022.
You may apply for an exemption https://www.health.govt.nz/
You do not need a pre-departure test
- Due to the low risk in these countries, you do not need to provide a negative test before departing for New Zealand
